Towards a knowledge-rich curriculum

During this mobility, you have the opportunity to do job shadowing in 3 primary schools belonging to the same educational group. The emphasis is on language skills: in recent years, these schools have put a lot of effort into reading and writing, linked to meaningful context. They are now reaping the benefits of this: the level of their pupils has noticeably increased. 

We start the week with an introductory session on the ssuccessful strategy by which the host country has made progress in international rankings on pupils' reading skills. 
Theory is followed by practice: we explore reading policies in three different schools, observe lessons and interact with teachers.
We conclude the week with an in-depth reflection: how do we translate what we observed to our own Flemish context?

  • Gaining insight: Gain insight into reading strategies that can enhance student learning by observing and discussing teaching practices.
  • Reflection and dialogue: Promote professional development through reflection and dialogue after each educational activity.
  • Personal development: Learning how to integrate these methods and strategies into one's own professional context.
  • Exchange of experiences: Learning from participants' different educational systems and cultures.
  • Networking and collaboration: Building a network of education professionals for future collaboration and exchange of best practices.

Participants:

  •  can express themselves in English;
  • are team players;
  • can transcend their own context and have great empathy;
  • have a didactic creative and innovative mind;
  • can inspire others;
  • can transfer the knowledge gained internationally to other contexts;
  • are willing to engage in a learning network in which they share what they have learned with colleagues across participating educational institutions;
  • are willing to turn what they have learned into effective changes in their own classroom practice and share this within the learning network and beyond.
